Ian began his retail and consumer goods career at the store level with FW Woolworth Company. He was promoted into corporate roles in procurement and operations, working in Canada and the USA. His career grew to include working with Gamble Skogmo, a major US retail conglomerate in a North America-wide procurement leadership role, with Canadian Tire in operations, and eventually owning three freestanding big box stores as a franchisee.

With his years in procurement, he helped many major consumer goods companies get listed and launch new products into the market. This combined experience served him well in building a strong retail and consumer goods search practice that included clients such as Canadian Tire, Meijer, K-Mart, Body Shop International, and Toys “R” Us, as well as Anheuser-Busch InBev, Spectrum Brands, and Black & Decker, to name a few, on the consumer goods side.
