Mike is one of the most experienced executive search practitioners in South Africa. He has personally completed well-over 400 board level search assignments/appointments across all functions and sectors.

His early career was in corporate HR with Ford, SABMiller (since acquired by AB InBev) and Unisys, as HRD for South Africa, where succession planning and executive mentoring were key.

His executive search career began with the diversified South African Renwick Group over 12 years, during which he became their top search consultant over four consecutive years – and held the group record for individual cumulative billings. 

In 2005 he set-up a global search capability for the listed Adcorp Group. He then merged their search business with SPi, as a director/shareholder in the longest-established retained search firm in South Africa. In SPi (and Adcorp) he was an active participant in prominent global search alliances. At end-2019, he retired from the SPi board and took a sabbatical, before joining Talent Network Global as Advisor, Executive Search Strategies.

Mike holds a BA degree with a distinction in his Psychology major and was an early Chartered HR Practitioner (CHRP) with the SA Board for People Practices.

Away from work, Mike has raised significand funds for Victoria Hospital as the oldest novice to complete the 7.4km Robben Island crossing under Channel rules for cold-water swimming.
